Congratulations to Rodney Tucker who won one of the prestigious awards at the above ceremony on Saturday 11 November.  Rodney has been a Governor of The Astley Cooper School since October 2002.

As the longest serving and one of the most hard working and committed of Governors, Rodney has played a crucial role in Astley Cooper’s increasing success over the last few years.

Rodney is willing to support the school in any way that he can: he regularly volunteers to be on staff interview panels, is on the Headteacher’s appraisal committee, and has been the nominated Safeguarding Governor for many years, working closely with Mr Daddow.  He rarely misses a governors’ meeting, attends all major evening events at the school, and never fails to find something positive and supportive to say to colleagues.

Rodney recently became the Chair of Governors of the new Jupiter Community Free School and his services were also sought by Ashlyn’s School in Berkhamstead when they formed a new Governing Body.

This award is a richly deserved recognition of Rodney’s many years of loyal service to the schools and young people of Hertfordshire.

The school currently has two vacancies for parent Governors. Being a parent Governor is an interesting and rewarding way to support the school and to gain an insight into the way a school operates on numerous levels.

If you are interested in this role or would like to find out more about it, with no obligation, please contact our Clerk to the Governors, Ruth Carl, on clerktogovernors@astleycooper.herts.sch.uk
