External Partners

The Astley Cooper School work with a number of external partners who help deliver and develop our school careers programme.

YC Hertfordshire

YC Hertfordshire provides information, advice, careers guidance and work-related learning to develop personal and social skills, resilience and support progression and economic independence. Our students receive 1:1 careers guidance interviews and also group work sessions to increase their knowledge of potential career paths and future options (whether that be A Levels, Work Based Learning, College or Apprenticeships).

The overwhelming majority of students will receive 1:1 careers guidance interviews in Year 10 and/or Year 11 with follow-up appointments according to need. Further interviews are provided to our Year 12 and 13 students in the Sixth Form. These sessions, in conjunction with those delivered by other external partners, help students understand better what employers are looking for in employees and the wider world of work.

SWR Limited (Enterprise Advisor)

SWR Ltd. works closely with Astley Cooper in their role as the school’s Enterprise Advisor. The primary contact is the MD, Jason Lee, who provides guidance and support to help bridge the gap between students of all year groups and the business world. Together with our careers leader, SWR helps develop and implement a wide range of initiatives including support for the school Work Based Learning Programme, the Careers Fair, careers based workshops and workplace experiences. The work with SWR has enabled students throughout the school to understand better potential career paths and workplace opportunities. Our continuing partnership is helping us work towards meeting the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks.
